About Poppy Cottage, Care Homes, Domiciliary Care and Supported Living.

A CQC Registered organisation, Poppy Cottage can provide all levels of care and support within their Supported Living environments including personal care, medication administration, meal preparation, finance budgeting and financial management. Through person-centred Care Plans we can provide an exceptional level of individual care based on assessment and knowledge and also on the Service Users preferences and aspirations to provide personal development. We work closely with relevant family, professionals and outside agencies including CPN and OT to encourage and promote healthy and safe environments. Key Workers work closely with the individual to plan weekly diaries, meal plans and budget plans to further independence and support Service Users to pursue new and old hobbies and attend clubs and activities, education or work.

The History of Poppy Cottage and Jacqueline.

Poppy Cottage Limited was founded in 2010 by owner Jacqueline Smith. A family run business, Jacqueline and her 2 daughters have grown the Company from a single Residential unit to 5 Supported Living properties and have become a leading provider of care services in the area. With the support from Daniel and Chas, Jackie's husband and son who complete all the wonderful refurbishments of these properties they have opened, the family run business and grown from strength to strength.

 

Jacqueline has been in the Care Industry for over 20 years and holds a Leadership & Management Award in Health and Social Care, both her daughters are also working towards this award and have been in the Care Industry for many years.Jackie and her daughters work closely with families and professionals alike to ensure excellence of care and promotion of independence.

Built in 2010, Jacqueline’s first property was a 6 bedroom bungalow, Poppy Cottage, which began life as a Residential Care Home and now boasts 4 sister properties; Poppy House, a 7 bedroom Supported Living unit, Poppy Lodge, a 6 bedroom wheelchair accessible property, Poppy Place, a 6 bedroom wheelchair accessible house, Poppy Bucks, a 6 bedroom bungalow designed for wheelchair users to have the benefit of large communal areas and large grounds around for their vehicles and pleasure, 2 further Supported Living properties will open in January 2018/19 - Poppy Hill, a 7 bedroom, wheelchair accessible house for multi-disabilities and Poppy Barn , a 6 bedroom ground floor bungalow, refurbished to accommodate just wheel chair users.

Knowledge and Experience - to provide care and support from Support Workers who receive on-going training and who are supported to enhance their qualifications within the industry, to regularly supervise and assess staff to ensure they are working to their best ability.

Poppy Employees

  • All Support Workers have NVQ,s in Health & Social Care or are supported in working towards this qualification.
  • Each Manager has the Leadership and Management Award in Health and Social Care or is supported in working towards this qualification.
  • A dedicated Operations department support the homes by providing professional administration including supporting Client money management and audit.
  • Support Workers are regularly supervised and carry out regular on-going training.

Poppy Recruitment

  • A full and compliant interview process is adhered to throughout our operation as required by regulations.
  • We request 2 references for all new employees.
  • We carry out checks with the Disclosure and Barring Services; DBS.
  • We check candidates have not been referred to the list for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults.
